**New for 2009**
Spring - BT has just announced large changes to its tarrifs. Most prices are rising (up to +45%) and the discount services such as 'Family and friends' plus 'Best friend' are ending. Conversely, calls to 0845 and 0870 are free to some customers at certain times. Line rental up by 8.6%, call set-up fee +16.8%, and daytime calls +15%. This follows Virgins' recent price hike of up to 38%.
ConferenceGenie have announced the resumption of an 0845 access service.
You need to keep on top of the latest charges and be prepared to swap service providers to get lowest rates. Lowest call costs are currently achieved by: Choosing the lowest cost service provider (eg lowest line rental), using an 0845 access number and calling via 18185.co.uk.

You may be aware that in the fall of 2007, ConferenceGenie (along with most other conference call providers), were forced by Oftel (telephone regulator) to move away from using 0845 numbers. This has caused much concern over call costs since the new numbers are 0844 and can be more expensive to use. In response to many emails, the cheapest UK conferencing supplier (ConferenceGenie), sent us the following email which we copy below:
Thank you for your email I have resent this email to you explaining the different number to use and costs. If you use our service during the evening and weekends please ensure that you use our 0844 984 00 00 number. Please note that we are still the UKs lowest cost provider.

Hello from Conference Genie. Please find below an important message for all customers who signed up prior to 1st September 2007.
As from 15th December, we are moving existing customers who use our 0845 access numbers over to new UK and international telephone numbers. The good news is that we have introduced much more flexibility with a new 07 mobile phone access number, local country access numbers for Europe and new evening and weekend low cost calls.

Mobile telephone access
Our mobile access number for Vodafone and Orange is: 07893 173 913
Calls using Vodafone and Orange are included in the free minutes for customers with inclusive minutes in their mobile contract. To confirm this applies to your mobile contract, make a test call and then check on your itemised statement from your mobile provider.
We are hoping to announce the inclusion of O2 in the scheme early next year (2008).
If you are on another network, it may still be possible to use the number for your call. Please let us know if you find other networks that support the number as part of their inclusive minutes.
T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile do not support the use of our mobile access number, please use our standard access number from these networks (0844 84 84 84 0).

When calling in the evening or weekend get cheaper calls with our low cost access number (available after 6pm and all weekend): 0844 984 00 00
